Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) provides a response team in areas affected by

natural disasters, which works with local leaders and presbytery officials to coordinate and direct

assistance. With the large number of flooding, fires, tornadoes, etc., your financial support is very

much needed. Contributions can be made by calling Presbytery Telephone at 1-800-872-3283 or checks can

be sent to Presbyterian Church (USA), Individual Remittance Processing, P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700. Regular updates on the responses to the various areas and people

affected can be read at www.pcusa.org/pda or by calling 1-800-872-3283.

The actions of the 218th General Assembly of the P.C. (U.S.A.), which met in San Jose, California, from June 21 to 28, will be discussed and debated for some time. The amendments to the constitution will be sent to the presbyteries for their vote. Before too much is said or speculated upon, please make sure that you have an accurate and true picture of what the actions were. A publication by the General Assembly, “2008 Assembly in Brief,” is available through the Presbyterian Distribution Service. Your pastoral leader can order them. I encourage you to become acquainted with the issues, to pray for wisdom, humility, and love, and to display these virtues as you discuss these “hot” topics. Prayer for our denomination and our Christian witness to others!
