Ladies, Here are the dates we discussed yesterday at the PW meeting:

November Mission Opportunities: Operation Shoebox; Domestic Violence Shelter; PW Thank Offering

Sun, Nov 5 – 4-7 pm: Abingdon Presbytery Committee on Ministry “Listening Team” at Buchanan First to meet individually 

(1 person or a couple) to hear joys/concerns of our church

Wed, Nov 8 and 15: 10:30 am Bible Study

Sun, Nov 19 – 6 pm – Community Thanksgiving Service held at our church –we’ll host a small reception afterward. 

Please bring cookies or hand-held snacks for this; bring them that evening or leave them in the church kitchen prior.

Wed, Nov 22 – NO Bible Study

Thurs, Nov 23 – Happy Thanksgiving … Practice Thanksliving

Wed, Nov 29 – after lunch, set up Fellowship Hall for the quarterly dinner

 

December Mission Opportunities: Buchanan County Humane Society

Sun, Dec 3: Quarterly Fellowship Meal after church followed by Hanging of the Greens. 

Our meal will be soups, sandwiches, salads, and sweets.

Wed, Dec 6: 10:30 – Bible Study followed at 11:30 by the Monthly PW meeting

Wed, Dec 13 – Open House at the Manse

Wed, Dec 20 – 10:30 am: Women’s Brunch with Ornament Exchange

Wed, Dec 27 – NO Bible Study

 

August 2-5, 2018: Church wide Gathering of Presbyterian Women in Louisville, KY

New hostess committees are being constructed. 

 

Help by volunteering to be a hostess!

 

 

The Lydia Circle will have their bible study lesson

at 10:30 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. Business meeting will begin immediately following

and will be held in classroom 1. All women are encouraged to attend and be a part of the

work and planning. Stay informed.

Our ‘Focus on Giving’ is ongoing:

 

November: Domestic Violence Shelter (we are checking to find out what they need the most)

 

December: Buchanan County Humane Society

 

Check the hall bulletin board board for the schedule

 

If you have suggestions for other projects, please share!  Presbyterian Women provide the leadership for these but we welcome ALL members of the church to participate regardless of gender.

The December fellowship dinner will be on the first Sunday and will be followed

 

by the "Hanging of the Greens". We will be readied for Christmas!

Featured recipe

COWBOY BEANS

16 oz can kidney beans (drained)

16 oz can pinto beans (drained)

16 oz can lima beans (drained)

16 oz can pork and beans (undrained)

16 oz can great northern beans (undrained)

1 large onion, chopped

1 large green pepper, chopped

1 and ½ pounds ground beef

1 cup barbecue sauce

 Sauté onion, green pepper, and ground beef until done.  Combine all beans with barbecue sauce.  Add beef mixture.  Cook in crock pot on high for 2 and ½ hours.
