Annual Pig Roast  2007

Each Autumn, our church hosts an annual pig roast for our church family and guests.  The night before the big event, members of our congregation gather at the Street Shelter to prepare our main event food--the pig.  Those who help with this preparation are treated to a cookout and lots of fun.  After the cookout, the people continue cooking the pig according to those who are scheduled to watch over the cooking--an all night event.

(A huge Thank You to the Street family who were instrumental in the implementation in the early years of this annual event.  They continue to provide the shelter, preparation of the pig and wood used in the cooking, and  their generous hospitality for the entire weekend!)

The day of our pig roast begins with a worship service.  Following the service, we begin our picnic.  The meat is always taken in chunks and shreds, never sliced. We guess that's what is meant by "pulled pork".

We have enjoyed the tradition of the pig roast for over twenty years, and hope to continue for many more!

A few more pictures......:)

An inventive dessert--cupcakes with "pigtails".

Until next year
